At the beginning of the year, your child and I will write a social contract. This social contract will be based upon Capturing Kids Hearts and 7 Habits of a Happy Kid. Your child will then be responsible for following the social contract throughout the year.
I will be working a lot with your child this year to manage their own behavior. Instead of using a clip chart to keep track of your child's behavior, the 2nd graders will be learning to track their own behavior. I will be using super improvers to help the 2nd graders monitor their behavior. More info. to come on Curriculum Night.
We will also have flexible learning in my 2nd grade classroom. Your child will have the ability to choose their best learning environment. That could be at their desk, on the floor etc. When a child cannot choose their best learning environment I reserve the right to choose it for them.
